Hi All,
Things are getting pretty exciting on this SYSTEM!!
I have been literally "fooling around" with the BAND SYSTEM and my 5RM bench has jumped 10# in the last 30 days.
However, this is not an "easy" system to implement, and takes a bit of trial and error, to get right.
I have been putting together the Systems so you can try them, but I still have a few bugs to work out.
The biggest of which is "adjustability".
I want this to be a "plug and play" system and need to explore that a bit more. As well we need it to be easy to use.
I am also looking at "how" to actually "blend it" into the Program.
We have two methods:
1) Add the bands to the first set, where the weight is lighter and speeds are faster. This is a "for sure" given. So on this alternative we only use the band on the "FIRST" set.
2) Alternative #2 is to use 2 bands and remove them on each set, so that set number ONE has 2 bands, set number TWO has 2 band, and set number THREE has no bands.
3) Alternative #3 is to use 3 bands and remove one on each set as above, so that on the last set you have a single band.
There are other alternatives too, such as using "any" of the above for 3 weeks out of four and on the fourth week using weight only (which would obviously be higher)
I used # 2 last night in my training, and the 10# jump was a pleasant surprise, but not unexpected.
One of the nice things about the system, is the "CNS facilitation/excitation" it creates.
Because of the fact that the weight "feels" heavier at lift off, it "excites" the CNS to a higher level. Then as you remove or reduce the band tension, the weights "feel" lighter than they are, and they move like they are lighter.
As an additional "extra" I have been experimenting with some "reactive force training clothing" which is also very promising, and I will post about in a separate post.
Think "bench shirts, and squat suits", but for making your training more effective and safe, and not for "weird" feeling clothing assisted lifting records.
