Hi John, What if somebody used the weight for their first set for all three? Couldn't the same thing be accomplished with 2 more hard sets with the same weight?

Hi John, What if somebody used the weight for their first set for all three? Couldn't the same thing be accomplished with 2 more hard sets with the same weight? Something could be accomplished, but not the "Same thing". These sets have a complimentary DIRECT COMPENSATION, and have similar but different stimuli. The higher reps generate a higher metabolic stimulus due to the number of reps. The Lower Reps generate significant tensions under a slower speed, and require a longer duration motor impulse at a high level. The higher reps create HUGE Momentary Maximum Muscle Tensions at the eccentric to concentric transition (SSC) The Lower heavier reps don't reach quite these momentary tensions, but higher average tensions on the fibers. There are also some elements you will discover after being on the program for a few months. Aside from Calves, most muscle groups will respond best with the suggested weight increases on each set, and the abilities produced by each Compensate the others.

That type of training actually started me back growing after many years. I laugh when on another site I see others talking about how Serge Nubret trained just pumping away, like Serge was enjoying a walk in the park. Then it's mentioned that Serge trained with his first set an all out max in the range of 25-30 reps. It's clear to me that those who think that he trained like this and think it easy have no clue. It's also mentioned that the man could bench press 500lbs., Gee how did that happen?

The size of some of the big guys, with better symmetry than Zane, and pretty much "perfect" muscle shape.
